June 11, 2020 – Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel announced today that Jacksonville, Florida, had been selected as the host city to celebrate the re-nomination of President Donald J. Trump. The selection of Jacksonville comes after Governor Roy Cooper refused to provide assurances that this celebration could occur in Charlotte, North Carolina.

“We are thrilled to celebrate this momentous occasion in the great city of Jacksonville,” said RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel. “Not only does Florida hold a special place in President Trump’s heart as his home state, but it is crucial in the path to victory in 2020. We look forward to bringing this great celebration and an economic boom to the Sunshine State in just a few short months.”

What We Know So Far

The last-minute switch from Charlotte North Carlina to Jacksonville, Florida, is likely to have both security and logistical challenges. As public law enforcement begins ramping their efforts in preparation for the candidate acceptance of the Republican Nomination, Peeler Group International previously started to prepare for the idea the convention may be moving to a Florida city some time ago.

We are anticipating massive demonstrations from the civil unrest displayed throughout major cities in the United States for the past several weeks. The concern of political and cultural stresses are not the only forces driving potential protest and disturbances. PGI has tracked an increase in reported violence and distress due to the Coronavirus pandemic’s restrictions and effects.

How Do You Prepare

During any national security event bringing the attention of the United States Secret Service, the landscape changes daily in and around the main event. As an individual attending such an event, it is essential to know how to travel to and from activities and maneuver the transportation system established. Credentialing is vital during attendance and travel to various festivities. It would be best if you took additional caution when traveling outside of the “convention bubble,” particularly while traveling alone, by not wearing identifying political affiliations.

Corporation functions and other subactivities to the main attraction are considered softer targets. Law enforcement is present at event centers and hotels. It is necessary to have security personnel assigned within the event and exterior of the space to identify potential threats.
